4 Tasty Rice Varieties to Try Out For This Summer






Summer is a time for fun, family and lazy afternoons. It is a season where you have all the time in the world to spend with your kids. To help you finish off your cooking faster and spend those lovely moments with your kids, and at the same time prepare healthy dishes, here are some top food ideas for you.

Lime rice

Here is the method for the preparation of lime rice. Extract the juice from lime and mix with cooked rice. Roast and powder fenugreek and add to rice. Heat oil in a kadai or a thick bottomed vessel fry some Cashew nuts and remove.

Next, add curry leaves, mustard, asafetida, red chilies, a tsp each of black gram dhal and Bengal gram dhal. When they have turned golden brown, remove from fire and add to rice. Mix well, add nuts and serve hot. 
This is a recipe I learnt in my nutrition class years back.

Curd rice


The curds are very good for this summer heat. Beat curds and add salt. Chop green chilies and ginger. Heat oil, fry mustard and asafoetida. Add the curry leaves.

Add the beaten curds. Mix the rice with curds and stir well. Decorate with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve. It tastes so good that you will be licking your fingers.

Tomato Rice

Cut tomatoes into very small pieces, so that it is easily cooked. Add oil in a thick bottomed vessel, splutter mustard. Add black gram dhal and Bengal gram dhal. Add curry leaves, a pinch of turmeric powder, red chilies, sliced tomatoes and asafoetida powder. Crushed ginger and garlic can also be added for that unique flavor.

When they are fried well and a pleasant aroma arises. Remove the vessel from fire and add cooked rice. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot. Fried potatoes and tomato rice are a great combination. Even while writing this my mouth begins to water.

Vegetable fried rice





This is a very healthy dish. Cut cauliflower, carrots and beans into thin pieces. In a thick bottomed vessel, add little oil and just fry the vegetables, no masala is needed. Add slit green chilies.
When the veggies are fried well, add it to the cooked rice, stir well add the needed amount of salt, garnish and serve.

Potato fry, chicken fry and fish fry are a great combination to go along with these awesome rice varieties. I prepared the chicken fry, fish fry and potato fry using olive oil. They are a very healthy form of fats recommended by top brains in the nutrition world.
